Our today topic is What is GMO? GMO (genetically modified organism) is a new form of scientists created by genetic engineering techniques of plants and animals.

What is GMO?
GMO plants and animals are new agricultural and animal products that are created as a result of changing the genetic properties by scientists in the laboratory environment.

The objectives of the GMO are:

Growing plants and animals in places except natural habitats
Being resistant to insects
Ability to grow in severe weather conditions
To be able to get more products on site (like cow milk)
These techniques are used to insert genes into or out of a plant or animal DNA. Scientists use genetic technology to produce plants, animals, and viruses and bacteria that have no biological character in natural life, such as corn plants with a bacterium-resistant bacterium that is resistant to cold-resistant frost-resistant fish genetically modified tomatoes or drugs used to kill weeds. For example, genetic engineers have injected the genome of a bacterium known as Bacillus thuringiensis into maize DNA. Bt expresses a protein that kills broad bugs, and this gene, transferred to the corn, ensures that it can self-produce poisons against bugs.

But genetically engineered, gene insertion into a plant DNA is random and scientists do not know where the gene is going. GMO products such as plant and fattening products are available in the markets. GMO plants are much more common than we thought. Below is a list of the most common GMO products that we can use to be more careful when shopping at least at a grocery store.

1. Soya
bean jam Approximately 90% of the soya bean in the market has been modified to be resistant to foreign herbicide chemicals. The increased resistance to these chemicals has forced farmers to use more drugs to kill weeds. As a result, only genetically modified soybeans were produced and a more chemically loaded product emerged.

2. Egypt
Egypt is also one of the most played genre. For example, half of farmers in the US use GM seeds. This results in people consuming large amounts of food either directly or indirectly (maize given to animals then returned to humans as dairy products).

3. Cotton
Cotton is a genetically modified product that can be used to gain resistance to diseases. The biggest risk is the cotton oil. It is thought that India, and especially cotton originating from China, carries a great risk for human life.

Cows are injected with growth hormone to grow faster and increase their yield. These hormones can also be found in some milk produced. These growth hormones can have various negative effects on the human body.

5. Sugar
The genetically modified sugar cane has been modified in many countries in order to be able to gain resistance.

Aspartame
Aspartame is also used as an artificial sweetener by many people instead of sugar. Aspartame has proven to be carcinogenic in the body. Aspartame is produced from genetically modified bacteria.

7. Canola Oil
Canola oil is the most sold GMO products.

8. Pumpkin
GMO pumpkins contain a toxic protein that makes them more resistant to insects. This insecticide has recently been seen in human blood, pregnant women and the fetus. This shows that some of the insect killers can survive in the human body without being separated from the body.

With the exception of these 8 products, many other products can be found on the market shelves without our knowledge.

The proportion of Americans with chronic diseases has risen from 7% to 13% within only 9 years. Food allergies have suddenly increased, and diseases such as autism, irregularities in reproduction, digestive problems and obvious increases in other disorders have been observed.

Increasing Unpredictable Risks
Genetic engineering intertwines the genes of non-related species and opens doors to side effects that can not be predicted. Furthermore, new species of plants that are produced independently of the transferred genotype cause damages such as new toxins, allergens, carcinogens and nutritional deficiencies.

GMO products and their associated insect killers are harming birds, insects, amphibia, marine ecosystems and organisms in the earth. These harmful chemicals reduce biodiversity and pollute water resources. For example, corn with GMOs removes the habitat of king moths from the center. The amount of these butterflies has decreased by 50% in the USA. Insect killer amphibians cause birth defects, embryonic mortality, hormonal disorders and organizational damage. GMO canola oil proved to have similar damages.

In summary, GMO products have become a threat not only to humans but to all the assets of nature. Plant or animal bacterial or viral GMO products damage the organism directly or indirectly, regardless of which organism is harmed. Therefore, it is of vital importance to consume GMO products.
